The history of Vina Deklić spans four generations,
with each chapter marking our dedication to craftsmanship, heritage, and continuous innovation.
1920.
First generation: Roots in Ferenci
Great-grandfather Marko Deklić planted the first Malvasia vines, unaware that he was laying the foundation for a family winemaking legacy that would last for generations.
His devotion to the vineyards was unwavering, but life took an unexpected turn—he passed away too soon, leaving the family’s legacy in the hands of his nine-year-old son, Konstantin. Guided by his uncle Antun, Konstantin grew up with a deep appreciation for the land and the craft of winemaking. It was an era of relentless effort and quiet triumphs. A defining moment came in 1969, when Konstantin sold his first ox to purchase the iconic red Ferguson tractor—a turning point that marked the beginning of modernization in the family’s vineyards.
1969.
Second generation: Built on Love, Cultivated with Care
With unwavering dedication, Grandfather Konstantin grew the family vineyards, always by his side was Grandmother Gracijela—the true heart of the family. Konstantin’s dedication extended beyond the vineyards—he was a lifeline to his community, spending countless nights delivering water to neighboring villages in times of need. His guiding belief was simple yet powerful: "Love is love"—a love for the land, for winemaking, and for the people around him. Through this love, he shared his wisdom with his grandchildren, leaving them not just vineyards, but a legacy, a philosophy, and a way of life.
1999.
Third generation: Strong Roots, a Modern Vision
With a vision for the future, Marino Deklić founds OPG Marino Deklić, bottles the first wine, and brings innovation and modern techniques into winemaking. Driven by a clear vision, he seamlessly combines heritage with innovation, positioning Deklić wines as a symbol of quality both in Istria and beyond. In 2006, the winery expanded into a new cellar, reflecting a continuous pursuit of excellence. With a strong commitment to quality, Vina Deklić has built a legacy that will inspire generations to come.
2025.
Fourth generation: Honoring the Past, Shaping the Future
David, Dino, and Lucija carry on the Deklić family legacy, each contributing in their own way, but all sharing the same dedication and vision. David, as an oenologist, brings precision and knowledge to every bottle. Dino ensures that Deklić wines find their way to wine lovers around the world, while Lucija, through her management of the tasting room, creates unforgettable moments for visitors.
In 2014, new labels were launched, marking a fresh chapter for the winery. By 2017, the family’s old stable was transformed into a refined tasting and event space, and in 2019, work began on a modern winery, created not just for production but as a place where the Deklić legacy is woven into every bottle.
By 2025, this space will stand as a destination for wine lovers to connect, celebrate, and share their passion.
