A Cellar That Tells a Story

DEKLIĆ WINERY
Steps of Tradition in Every Sip of the Future
Deklić Winery, located in the heart of Istria in Vižinada, proudly blends contemporary design with a tradition of winemaking, creating a space where every niche and corner has its own story.
The architectural project, the work of Croatian architect Viktor Vrečko, was born out of a clear vision: to create a space that is not only functional but also deeply connected to its surroundings, reflecting the family’s history and dedication to wine.

Deklić Winery is not just a place where wines are made, but a reflection of generational dedication, innovation, and genuine love for winemaking.

ARCHITECTURE ROOTED IN THE LANDSCAPE
A Dialogue of Tradition and Innovation
Deklić Winery is located on the western slopes of Vižinada, discreetly embedded into the ground to blend with the Istrian landscape. From its heights, the view stretches from the Alps in the east to Venice in the west, and the architecture itself is carefully designed to honor the space in which it was created. At first glance almost invisible, the winery reveals its story only to those who devote themselves to it.
Under the guidance of architect Viktor Vrečko, a space was created that merges functionality and aesthetics, connecting the tradition of winemaking with modern design. The red-tinted concrete, with its patina of imperfection, reflects the artisanal nature of the wine, while the combination of concrete and COR-TEN steel immerses the winery fully into the colors of Istrian soil. This architecture is not just a building, but a reflection of the winery's philosophy – a coexistence of nature, heritage, and contemporary creativity.

THREE LEVELS WITH PURPOSE AND STORY
A Space Crafted to the Last Detail
Deklić Winery spans nearly 3,000 square meters, thoughtfully designed to combine cutting-edge technology with spatial elegance. The lowest level is the heart of production – where tradition and innovation meet in the process of winemaking. Equipped with the latest technology, this area enables grape processing and wine aging in stainless steel tanks, concrete eggs, wooden barrels, and Georgian amphorae.
Thanks to a gravity-fed production system, every step – from pressing and fermentation to maceration and maturation – flows naturally with minimal intervention. Every line of the space, every material and every detail is carefully considered to serve the wine’s purity, character, and authenticity.

TECHNOLOGY
Synergy of Tradition and Modern Technology
At Deklić Winery, every step of vinification is closely monitored by state-of-the-art control systems, ensuring precision and consistency at every stage of production. But behind the technology lies what matters most – passion and respect for the wine.
We see every vineyard as part of the family, and each grape cluster goes through a carefully guided journey from vine to bottle. Innovations in viticulture here serve tradition, preserving the authenticity of the terroir and creating wines that reflect dedication, expertise, and love infused into every sip.

ARCHIVE
A Cellar That Tells a Story
The Deklić Winery cellar is not just a place where wines age – it is the heart of the winery, a space where tradition and passion are poured into every tasting moment.
Hidden in the lower levels, the archive is designed for true hedonists, offering an intimate setting for enjoying a glass of premium wine. Here, among amphorae, wooden barrels, and modern stainless steel tanks, the wine gains its complexity, character, and story – one that can be felt in every sip.

ROOFTOP TERRACE
A Symphony of Horizon and Wine
Atop the Deklić Winery sits a terrace that opens onto a magnificent panorama – from the rolling Istrian vineyards and emerald hills to the blue of the Adriatic Sea.
This refined space, designed for tastings and exclusive events, pairs exceptional wines with views that stretch as far as the Alps and Venice. Every moment here becomes a harmonious meeting of flavor and landscape, leaving a lasting impression – just like the wines that tell the story of Istria.
